Description

We need to add an industrial programmer to our current dynamic team. In our company, the industrial programmer designs, writes, modifies, configures, programs, integrates and tests computer code for PLC, HMI & SCADA systems. These systems often integrate with robots, scales, printers, vision systems and other interesting technologies. The incumbent works on progressively complex projects in a real production environment with many of our customers. The industrial programmer designs and programs the solutions that our customers depend on, and acts as the link between the machines and the users via interfaces or software. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The industrial programmer performs the following responsibilities: ● Ultimately looks at the clients’ challenges and designs a solution an implement it; ● Analyses the client’s system and develops control philosophy, conceptual design, project planning and cost estimates; ● Identifies and communicates technical processes, solutions and problems; ● Collects and documents users’ requirements; ● Participates in conceptions and analysis; ● Develops control system designs and specifications; ● Develops designs that are applicable and useable by the clients, while respecting the company business process; ● Develops logical and physical specifications; ● Determines and communicates instrument equipments’ sizing, specifications, selections, installations and connections; ● Manages the implementation of solutions in a teamwork-centric environment; ● Prepares industrial reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of computer systems; ● Maintains existing computer programs by making modifications as required; ● Performs testing and on-site commissioning; ● Trains clients’ personnel on systems and operations; ● Performs other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor and for the success of the company.

REQUIREMENTS: ● A bachelor’s degree or a college degree in a field related to automation with significant programming, instruments and electrical knowledge; ● Ability to understand the client’s business process; ● Preferably three (3) years of experience as an industrial programmer, especially in ladder programming; ● Ability to work autonomously and understand the critical tests required to ensure that the impacts of the software are tested; ● Proven analytical and planning skills; ● Capable of taking initiatives; ● Experience with packaging equipment such as palletizers, wrappers, and pallet conveying systems. Work experience within the sawmill industry or municipal industry would be considered an asset; In-depth knowledge of configuring and programming PLC, HMI, SCADA and instruments; ● Knowledge with PLC programming software such as: RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, RSLinx, CX programmer; ● Knowledge with HMI/SCADA programming software such as: FactoryTalk View Studio, RSView 32, Indusoft Web studio; ● Experience in programming Microsoft products such as: Visual Basic, Access, MS SQL and/or in technical control is an asset; ● Good knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Access; ● Bilingual: English and French. The ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated to learn and adapt is crucial for success in this changing technology and self-learning environment. Good communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential for building professional relationships and working cohesively with a wide variety of people.
