Description

Our client is one of the largest and most significant independent bakeries in Western Canada. The company was founded in 1962 and the success is the result of years of dedication to product quality and consistency, good service and plain old hard work by all staff members of the bakery. Summary: The production worker would be assigned a variety of different tasks and would report directly to the Production Manager / Supervisors while taking specific direction including coaching/training and mentoring throughout the shift from a Level II or III Production Worker. Terms: Shift work, Full time, 40 hours per week, Overtime Tasks: The various tasks performed by the Level II Production Worker include: • Oven Operator • Bread Divider Operator • Hearth Bagger Operator KLR • Muffin Bagger Operator • Muffin Divider Operator • Roll Divider Operator Additionally the Level II Production Worker should be able to do (if required) tasks performed by Level I Production Workers which include: • Bread Bagger / Packer • Bread Pan Feeder • Hearth Bagger Packer KLR • Roll Bagger / Scrambler • Roll Line Racker • Roll Pan / Feeder • Muffin Bagger Packer Level II Production Worker Qualifications: • Capable of demonstrating proficiency in all Level I Production Worker tasks • Leadership skills with the ability to coach/train and mentor Level I Production Workers • Basic level computer skills • Effective interpersonal communication skills with fellow employees • Strong team player with a high level of initiative and integrity • Effective problem solving skills with the ability to “quickly think on the feet” to resolve problems using a practical, common sense approach • Strong organizational and time management skills • Dependability and reliability; demonstration of regular and punctual attendance • Physical strength and stamina Working Conditions • Indoor industrial work setting • Overtime may be required for two main reasons. First of all, product must continually flow through production to meet production levels/customer demand; and secondly, product is produced on a daily basis and since the product is perishable with a short shelf life, it may require the need to work longer during a work shift. • Shift time may have variable hours given the nature of the business and the need to respond quickly to customer orders • Requires physical exertion including standing for long periods of time; may be required to lift heavy items Note: It is an expectation that a Level II Production Worker is to recognize and understand overall production requirements. Another expectation is to assume more responsibilities by coaching/training and mentoring Level I Production Workers. Level II Production Workers must be willing and adaptable to learn new skills, knowledge and technology. For example, all Level II’s must be familiar with the operation of screens and programs of Toolbox. A logical career or job progression would be to learn and eventually take on the tasks of the Level III Production Worker.
